Continue reading »]]> Niche marketing involves connecting a hungry group of buyers with a product they are looking for. So to make money with niche marketing all you need is a product that pays well and a group of very hungry buyers.

What It Will Cost To Get Started

To get started with niche marketing I would recommend budgeting $10 to purchase a domain name and $10 a month to pay for hosting. Compared with starting a traditional business this is very cheap.

Find A Hungry Market

One of the biggest mistakes marketers make is finding a product and then hoping that there is a group of hungry buyers for that product. I have done this and it frequently does not work out well. So we are going to do just the opposite. We are going to search for a group of buyers and figure out what it is they are hungry for. One of the easiest ways to get an idea of what people are looking to buy is to go to the Google keyword search tool and search for words like: stop, cheap, quit, learn, buy, and other trigger keywords.

Amazon.com is another place that you can go to find things that people are looking for. Amazon does a great job of keeping track of what is selling right now.

The winners receive checks for hundreds or thousands of dollars each quarter; the losers find their mailboxes empty. And the truth is, the losers outnumber the winners by a large margin.

By meeting with affiliate program managers, makers of affiliate-tracking software, and the owners of websites great and small, I have discovered what determines whether a given affiliate will be a winner or a loser. By applying these Seven Secrets of Successful Affiliates, I feel any content site can maximize their return from participating in affiliate commerce.

1. Secret One: Feature merchants you trust. It doesn’t matter whether a program offers sales commissions as high as 25 percent if no purchases are ever generated. Remember, online shoppers are very reluctant to give their credit card number to unfamiliar businesses.

Affiliate schemes that claim to help content sites keep their eyeballs, take the transaction, and “be the merchant,” suffer from a critical flaw: hardly anyone actually buys from them. Only include products from merchants who have earned your trust and made you a satisfied customer. After all, if a merchant is not good enough for you, how could they possibly be good enough for your audience?

2. Secret Two: Focus on relevance. Ultimately, the only way sites create value from affiliate commerce is by truly helping their audience find relevant products. Your audience should be thinking about you as an expert on the topic that makes your site unique. They should not (and will not) think of you as a general-purpose shopping destination. Successful affiliates never surrender their valuable real estate for such unpaid ads.

4. Secret Four: Presentation matters. Until recently, creating a compelling product placement required a great deal of effort and technical knowledge. In recent months, various programs have begun to offer automated link generation. Output from such systems varies greatly, from text-only links to well-crafted combinations of product image, description, and link. Successful affiliates make sure that the products they promote are displayed within their sites in the most compelling way possible.

5. Secret Five: Keep your expectations in line with your traffic. No matter how good a job you do of picking merchants and products, your success as an affiliate will be correlated directly with the volume of traffic at your site. Don’t lose sight of the things you need to do to attract, inform, and entertain your audience. Without the content, there is no commerce.

6. Secret Six: Don’t worry about “losing” your traffic. For a content site, the key to making money — whether from advertising or affiliate commerce — is to be compensated fairly for giving access to your audience. All those ads on Yahoo!, for example, only work because people do click on them and leave the portal. Successful affiliates embrace the “traffic economy” and actively use the inclusion of topical products to make their sites “stickier.” A NASCAR content site that promotes the NASCAR Barbie Doll from eToys may not be the place a visitor will return for future toy shopping in general, but it should be the place to return for NASCAR-related toys, books, videos, software, and, yes, refrigerator magnets.

7. Secret Seven: Learn by trial and error. Although a site owner can easily identify the products relevant to their content, it is still hard to know which specific items will sell best. In the world of affiliate commerce, there is no substitute for experimentation. Try different merchants, products, and methods of promotion. Successful affiliates learn from their mistakes, becoming more effective over time at driving transactions and earning commissions.

To many, learning is a dirty word. A chore to be avoided
at all cost. However, it’s required to succeed in business.
But maybe not the kind of learning you think of when you use
this term.

What “Learning” Means In Schools

Many did not enjoy their school days for they did not enjoy
the learning task. And some were not good at it. Others
found it difficult.

If you did not enjoy learning, but can manage, there is only
one reasonable approach. Grit your teeth and get it done.

You may discover that outside the school room, the learning
task is much easier. One factor that really makes a
difference is that you now have a purpose.

For example, if you are working to improve your selling
skills, you recognize they can make or break your business.
Thus there is a solid reason for taking the time to make all
possible progress. Given purpose, the task is much easier.

How To Manage If Learning Is Hard For You

Lots of people find learning difficult. If you are one of
them, do not be overly concerned. You can still get it done.
You only need to look at the task differently than you did
in school.

Schools are run pretty much like an assembly line. Every
student is expected to learn a given quantity of information
or to achieve a specific skills level in the same amount of
time. Given the differences in people, this is pretty silly
when you think about it.

You decide how much is enough for now. And when you do, you
decide what is to be done next.

Given patience and persistence, many come to enjoy this
mode, and thus come to enjoy learning. Surprisingly this
happens to many. But whether or not you come to enjoy it,
it will continually become a less painful chore.

You’ll Know When You Get It

To have learned something means it has become internalized.
It has become a full fledged member of your bag of tricks.
This happens only when you find yourself saying, “Hey, I
want to try this,” you do so, and find it works. Then you’ve
got it. Until this happens, you don’t.

There’s No End In Sight

None of us can afford to be content with what we now know of
the Web or doing business on it. Which means there is no end
to learning. It is a lifelong task, to be pursued on a
regular basis.

New ideas peek up over the horizon every day. So we need
to consider everything related to marketing we can find.
Particularly in any area related to the one in which we are
working.

Anybody Can Do It!

As you may know, I taught mathematics and computer science
in secondary schools and colleges in Los Angeles,
California, for a lot of years. From this experience, one
conviction stands above all others.

Talent and native ability wither away to nothingness in
those without a work ethic that includes the patience and
persistence to follow the path wherever it may lead. To put
this another way, workaholics tend to achieve their goals
regardless of talent or native ability.

If you are willing to improve your skills, willing to
persist and be patient with yourself, there is no limit to

When I first got into the make money online field, I couldn’t get focused. I was listening this guy, that guy, another guy, every guy and got information overload and didn’t take action.

I wasn’t able to pick a project and stay focused and finish it. I would read an e-book or take some information from someone and try and put that information to use to make money for myself online.

Some of them had great information in them and I could make money from the information and I would start that project. The problem was that I would never finish a project.

I was always searching for something better. I was always looking for the next big thing. I was looking for something that didn’t exist.

I was looking for something that didn’t require hardly any work and was going to make me a millionaire overnight.

There is no product that is going to do this for you!

I had the information in my hands to make a handsome living online. I just wasn’t using it. I wasn’t staying focused on a project long enough to see any returns.

I was lied to, like most people who get into the making money online field. We are told by people who want to sell their products to us, that we will make a million dollars overnight and don’t have to do much work.

Guess what, you won’t make that kind of money overnight and it does take some work. What you should do is pick out some projects and finish them.

Once you start finishing your projects, whatever they may be, creating a product, building a website, writing sale copy etc. The money will start coming in.

I always say that the toughest dollar to make online is the first one. There are so many people that don’t make any money online and give up and go back to their day job.

The first dollar was definitely the toughest for me to make. I think it gets easier because once you have made some money online, you have broken down that first very important barrier down, it gets a lot easier.

You realize that you really can make money online and your confidence soars! You can just keep on doing what you were doing to make more money.

Work harder and expand your business. Repeat what you’re doing to make money and just keep expanding on that process and keep working on ways to improve your business.
